We are seeking a talented Director, Application Development to join our team! This position will own an application vertical to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing application development technology initiatives that align with the strategic direction of CO-OP Financial Services by creating a world class technology team. This position advances software development by scaling people, process, and technology. Critical to success is leading and delivering application development projects through the application of comprehensive software development life cycle (SDLC) processes. This role will deliver on the committed roadmaps with world-class quality and timing. This position will emphasize scalability of the engineering product while delivering an exceptional client experience. The ability to provide strong leadership to the various team members through mentoring, career development, interpersonal skills, teamwork ethic, and enabling leadership skills in paramount.


  • Oversees the workflow, budget, staff, output and overall standards and procedures of an application development group.
  • Directs, manages and delivers application development projects through the application of comprehensive software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Balances areas' supply and demand by monitoring project requests, problem reports, resource allocations and ongoing progress towards stated goals.
  • Manages the client technology relationship, including expectations and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with the business to plan and execute development projects, ensures teams have appropriate products and technical specifications, and provides direction and resources to deliver projects on an aggressive, but achievable timeline.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance on software development tools, technology and development methodologies.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to coach, motivate, and lead team members and organizations to their optimum performance.
  • Executes on continuous improvement of the existing software applications and architecture. Ensures team’s delivery quality code that is on time, on scope, and on budget.
  • Resolves development and application issues performance levels and career development. Solid project planning and project management techniques to assist in small projects and/or group initiatives.
  • Works within guidelines and rigid timeframes while also having flexibility.


  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years' of relevant IT experience and leadership experience in a software development organization required.
  • Ability to link vision and strategy with overall business objectives and communicate rationale in a compelling, concise manner.
  • A proven progression of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader and development manager.
  • Deep understanding of the software development cycle and development methodologies.
  • Exceptional project management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Well organized, exceptional communication and presentation skills- effective communicator/presenter to groups of all sizes and levels of management.
