  • The Opportunity

    CO-OP Financial Services provides technically superior products and services to financial institutions across the nation. We are seeking a talented Senior Manager, Total Rewards to be responsible for designing, developing and implementing compensation, benefits, and incentives that enables the company to attract, motivate, and retain top talent. Utilize knowledge of best practices to develop strategic, cost-effective, competitive, innovative, high quality total rewards programs. Manage the planning, implementation, maintenance and administration of these programs efficiently and accurately ensuring programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.



    • Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s compensation programs, including total rewards, job analysis/evaluation, salary structure administration, and design of base salary and variable cash compensation programs.
    • Develops, plans, and administers the company's benefits programs, including health and wellness, insurance programs, income protection, retirement plans, sick leave, time off, and vacation policies.
    • Provides thought leadership and execution of executive compensation and program design; collaborates with HR business partners to make appropriate decisions regarding total rewards.
    • Works as a business partner to leadership on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation and job evaluation including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
    • Oversees the execution of the renewal recommendation process and Open Enrollment process for benefit programs, including strategic planning, project management, education, and communication.
    • Ensures that compensation and benefits programs are competitive and equitable, and that the programs are aligned to strategic corporate goals. Ensures programs are current with regard to trends, practices, and costs.
    • Responsible for compliance and financial reporting requirements of the health & welfare, compensation, and retirement programs; help prepare government filings, plan audits, and other tax reporting requirements.
    • Collaborates with external contacts such as vendors, consultants and attorneys on contracts, design work and implementation of various retirement plans, compensation, health & welfare benefit plan related programs.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of federal and state legislation influencing compensation and benefits.
    • Uses automation to compile periodic reports on compensation and benefits for senior management.
    • Oversees leave of absence programs and workers compensation programs administration.
    • Acts as full administrator of 401(k) plans and other retirement plans
    • Manage the compensation and benefits services group; responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees.  Other supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training this staff.
    • Manage and oversee administration of total rewards including managing relationships with brokers, consultants and vendors.
    • Excellent project management, business analyst, organizational skills, time management and communication skills.
    • Manage HR operating budget.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of compensation and benefits experience including 3 years of managerial experience. 
    • Experience with Human Capital Management system, demonstrated proficiency in laws and regulations governing benefits including Affordable Care Act, ERISA, HIPAA, IRS regulations, Section 125, and COBRA with demonstrated proficiency in laws and regulations governing compensation including FLSA and Title VII.
    • Must have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, a demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers, excellent organizational skills, the ability to think strategically with supporting analytical skills and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. 
    • Preferred Certifications: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation, Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation, preferred. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field is preferred along with an understanding of 401k investment funds. 
    • Strong working knowledge of benefit regulations, market trends, and program design and maintain working knowledge of legislation that may affect compensation and benefits policies/practices, including ACA, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA and other applicable Department of Labor (DOL) and/or tax laws and regulations; fulfills compliance and reporting requirements.  Must have applied technical knowledge in HRIS and compensation. 
    • Project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to navigate across business units in a diverse, fast-paced organization and a proven track record leading successful compensation and benefits initiatives and projects. 
    • Must have business and financial acumen including deep understanding of tax, accounting, legal, and regulatory issues related to benefits along with effective communication, negotiation, problem solving, and leadership skills. 
    • Must be proficient in Human Resource Information Systems, have the ability to work independently and broad knowledge of compensation concepts; has experience determining salary ranges, by using salary surveys.
