    We are seeking a talented Accounting Supervisor to supervise and coordinate activities to ensure proper calculation, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. The Accounting Supervisor will apply accounting principles that include work that is analytical, creative, evaluative, and advisory in nature and must understand accounting theory and practice. The Accounting Supervisor leads a small team, creates high morale, maintains open communication with all members of Accounting and provides the appropriate guidance and mentorship.

    What You Can Look Forward to

    • Contributes insight into the development and management of business reporting tools utilized for month-end closing and other processes in order to improve productivity and reduce lead time.
    • Maintains and produces financial reports in FRx and F9.
    • Leads and participates in special projects, as needed.
    • Leads and coordinates activities of team members reporting to them.
    • Performs training and cross training of staff in all functional areas.
    • Leads the facilitation/completion of monthly close procedures.
    • Responsible for monthly journal entries and financial statement closing process for company ledgers; monthly balance sheet and income statement account analysis and reconciliations.
    • Prepares monthly settlement analysis/reconciliation and prepares wire transfer information for submittal to management for review.
    • Assists with the annual budget process, as needed.
    • Analyzes financial information, studies and reports trends, makes recommendations, collects information and prepares reports highlighting potential issues affecting expenses, balances, or cash flow.
    • Performs various detailed month-end allocations, shared costs and indirect cost allocations.
    • Independently reconciles, researches, and resolves exception items for all types of account activity, including complex accounting matters.
    • Ensures the accuracy of accruals and all related journals.
    • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of the team.
    • Prepares composite reports from information provided by the team as requested by management.
    • Inspects accounting policies to determine the efficiency and protective value. Reviews items in books of original entry to determine if accepted accounting procedures are followed.
    • Participates in special projects as designated by management.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Business is required. Requires a minimum of 5+ years of Accounting related experience and must have direct supervisory experience.
    • Supervises staff ensuring expectations are established to provide accurate and timely financial reports.
    • Supervises the month-end close process by ensuring staff has completed all journal entries, reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, and reviews variances related to general ledger accounts.
    • Directly supervises Accountants.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing constructive feedback, coaching, and recognition.
    • Knowledge of PC based accounting software and Microsoft Office applications are essential.
    • Advanced Excel skills are required.
    • Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
    • Must know the mechanics and geography of the General Ledger as well as Balance Sheet, Income Statement, & Cash Flow statement prepared in accordance with GAAP.
    • Background demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving ability is necessary.
    • Must possess strong verbal/written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Must have ability to effectively multi-task.
    • Must be able to work independently and in a group environment.
    • Ability to organize, manage time and meet deadlines.
    • Examines work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Proactively meeting objectives and looking for efficiencies.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with a desire to continuously learn and develop, with concern for the development and motivation of others.
