  • Overview

    CO-OP Financial Services provides technically superior products and services to financial institutions across the nation. We are seeking a talented Senior Accountant to apply accounting principles that include work that is analytical, creative, and evaluative, and advisory in nature and must understand accounting theory and practice.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Assists in the development and management of business reporting tools utilized for month end closing and other processes in order to improve productivity and reduce lead time.
    • Maintains and produces financial reports in FRx.
    • Assists in leading and coordinating activities of other staff accountants and junior accountants.
    • Assists with the facilitation/completion of monthly close procedures.
    • Responsible for monthly journal entries and financial statement closing process for company ledgers; monthly balance sheet and income statement account analysis and reconciliations.
    • Prepares monthly settlement analysis/reconciliation and prepares wire transfer information for submittal to management for review.
    • Assists with the annual budget process.
    • Analyzes financial information, call attention to trends, make recommendations, collect information and prepare reports highlighting potential issues affecting expenses, balances, or cash flow.
    • Performs various detailed month-end allocations, shared costs and indirect cost allocations.
    • Interprets accounting records, reports, and statements. Advises management on accounting matters to ensure GAAP compliance.
    • Assist in establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating the implementation of accounting policies, and procedures, develops and implements cost-saving initiatives.
    • Perform back-up duties assigned to staff and junior accountants, as needed.
    • Independently reconciles, researches, and resolves exception items of all types of account activity.
    • Independently manages audits required by regulatory authorities.
    • Assists with preparation of year end audit and tax work-papers.
    • Responsible for special projects as designated by management.

    Qualifications

    • Four year degree in accounting or finance preferred, minimum 5 years general accounting experience.
    • Must be analytical, have ability to effectively multi-task and must possess strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of PC based accounting software and Microsoft Office applications are essential.
    • Advanced Excel skill is required
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
