  • Overview

    CO-OP Financial Services provides technically superior products and services to financial institutions across the nation. We are seeking a talented Director of Platform Engineering and Architecture who will be responsible for the overall end-to-end life cycle management of the company's platform engineering and solution architecture for enterprise systems and complex high-volume financial systems in a multi-datacenter / multi-customer environments. This position will be required to develop Solutions Architecture, Platform Engineering service transition and service operations teams to deliver secure scalable infrastructure systems and services.




    • Partner with the Director of Cybersecurity and Network in support of PCI and other Enterprise Compliance efforts.
    • Develop and implement strategic, technical, secure, and operational infrastructure architectures that are properly aligned with business goals and objectives.
    • Works closely with the SVP, Infrastructure and Director of Cybersecurity and Network in developing the strategy for the future direction of the company’s Enterprise IT services, supporting all Business Units.
    • Responsible for managing vendors including enterprise systems integrators, cloud platform services, hardware and software vendors, and co-location services.
    • Manages, coordinates and prioritizes the schedules, projects and activities of direct reports.
    • Develops the support structure of the organization, managing and developing existing staff as well as recruitment.
    • Coordinates the implementation of scalable hardware and system architectures to support transaction processing and internal initiatives, and implementation and support of transaction processing systems. 
    • Oversees company data center operations.
    • Executes and improves the core functions of Platform Engineering, including: server and hardware installation and configuration, maintenance and support, performance management, backup and recovery management, server and desktop virtualization management, application hosting, and enterprise project execution and delivery at enterprise scale.
    • Executes and improves the core functions of Solutions Architecture, including: solution intake design and review (including high, mid, and low-level design), technical reference models and reviews sat enterprise scale.
    • Responsible for maintaining service catalog definitions, services, service owners, and service levels for Solutions Architecture and Platform Engineering.
    • Responsible for creating, maintaining alerts, reports, and dashboards that monitor infrastructure KPIs.
    • Serves as an internal infrastructure consultant on enterprise projects/initiatives.
    • Leads major new system implementations projects to ensure that business and security goals are built into system prior to production cutover.
    • Works closely with the IT Architecture team to design and implement automated controls in DevOps methodology along with the associated tools and processes.
    • Liaises with other information technology groups in investigation and resolution of major incidents.
    • Ensures ongoing system health checks on systems and applications with follow up remediation.
    • Ensures the monitoring of systems and platforms capacity and performance to proactively mitigate risk to enterprise system health.
    • Works with Investigation team(s) on security violations.
    • Manages team to conducts root cause analysis for operational systems issues.
    • Lead the Solution Architecture and Platform Engineering teams in the architecture design, build, implementation and maintenance of system and platform infrastructure.
    • Acts as a catalyst for change to improve infrastructure processes that benefit the organization.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or 10 years or more of equivalent experience including at least 5 years of relevant supervisory experience required.
    • Knowledge of operating systems, virtualization, and hardware platforms.
    • Advanced knowledge of storage technologies, local storage, Arrays, SAN's, IP-Storage, NAS, File Systems.
    • In depth knowledge of backup/recovery and disaster recovery and avoidance.
    • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems.
    • In depth knowledge of cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
    • In depth knowledge of PCI/DSS, SOC audits, and other industry audits.
    • Knowledge of enterprise architecture models.
    • Broad knowledge of network technologies including routers, switches, load balancers, protocol accelerators, etc.
    • Advanced knowledge of security processes.
    • Broad knowledge of ITIL framework.
    • Broad knowledge of waterfall, devops, and agile project management.
    • Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.

    • Must have the ability to work with individuals of all levels with varying technical skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
