    We are seeking a talented Strategic Partnerships Director to support the design and build-out of CO-OPs Extended Partner program.  The Strategic Partnerships Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the Extended Partner program strategy and assembling a network of commercial partners that will participate in the program.  The Director will also play a supporting role in overseeing CO-OP’s relationships with some of its largest existing strategic commercial partners to ensure that CO-OP’s interests are being served and that accountability for performance is being actively monitored and managed.

    What You Can Look Forward to

    • Support the build-out of CO-OP’s Extended Partner program through formation of strategic commercial partnerships that extend CO-OP’s influence with and value to the credit union community.
    • Monitor markets, industries and organizations with potential strategic interest for CO-OP.
    • Assess credit union needs and identify prospective partners with innovative solutions that address those needs.
    • Prioritize and recommend potential new commercial partnership opportunities along with supporting strategic rationale and business case justification.
    • Partner with Legal to negotiate and structure commercial partnership terms.
    • Partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, Technology, Operations and Finance to ensure commercialization plan for each partnership is completed and executed upon.
    • Perform ongoing management and assessment of each partnership, adjusting terms and modifying relationships as necessary.
    • Define and execute against growth targets for Extended Partner program P&L.
    • Assist in managing and overseeing CO-OP’s top strategic technology/operational commercial partners.
    • Ensure supporting commercial agreements maximize income, deliver superior product and service, and minimize risks to CO-OP.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address failures in partner delivery that require executive attention and action.
    • Work with CO-OP subject matter experts to identify, evaluate and prioritize new collaboration opportunities with each partner.
    • Maintain documentation of relationship status and economic impacts to CO-OP.
    • Support and own special projects as needed.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
    • 5+ yrs. experience within the financial services industry (preferably with specialization in payment card issuing and associated ancillary services) demonstrating consistent growth in responsibilities and accomplishments.
    • Experience with all phases of the commercial partnership lifecycle (identification, formation, integration, and performance management).
    • Proven track record of working with clients to nurture and strengthen relationships as well as with prospective partners to incubate and develop new business opportunities.
    • Experience developing proposals that articulate alternatives, value propositions, benefits, risks, and estimated financial impacts of commercial partnership strategies.
    • Superior negotiation skills with deep knowledge of commercial agreement parameters, terms and structuring alternatives.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with experience collaborating with internal stakeholders across multiple cross-functional disciplines.
    • Exceptional critical thinking and reasoning skills with ability to quickly and intuitively grasp how new products, complementary business models, and creative transaction structures could impact CO-OP from a strategic and financial perspective.
    • Strong analytical skills with ability to present analysis in an impactful and concise manner.
    • Effective multi-tasker with ability to execute on multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
    • Ability to represent CO-OP to relevant organizations inside and outside the credit union system.
