    We are seeking a talented Technical Writer to provide information to users who need specific information on using CO-OP solutions. The Technical Writer will develop and write a variety of end-user product documentation including, quick start, implementation, and user guides. This position determines the needs of the audience, organizes the structure of technical documents, and writes information to meet the needs of the audience so they may easily find and consume the information.  A Technical Writer interprets the thoughts and ideas of engineers, programmers, and other technical staff, translating complex concepts and procedures into concise documents in simple language.

    What You Can Look Forward to

    • Works with Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Support to produce a wide variety of technical publications including, but not limited to, instructional materials, technical manuals, product documentation for use by both the IT and business community.
    • Gather source information from existing information, product specifications, UAT testing, and interviewing subject matter experts.
    • Where required, researches information such as design documents, technical drawings, test specifications to complete documentation.
    • Write and edit content for assigned materials; implement and manage thorough review process of draft materials, incorporating feedback and revising as needed.
    • Identity, select, and incorporate visuals with written content to illustrate procedures and concepts in documentation.
    • Reviews, critiques, and edits documentation, including design documents, programmer notes and system overviews.
    • Design and format documents that adhere to standards for optimum presentation, appeal, readability, and ease of ongoing maintenance.
    • Assist with document inventory management and distribution, and administration of company-wide content management system.
    • Develop outlines and coordinate the creation and updating of assigned deliverables.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, technical writing or management information systems.
    • 5-7 years writing experience in technical communication, at least three of which relate to the financial services technology industry.
    • Thorough command of English grammar and expert knowledge of technical writing and business communication standards.
    • Understanding of credit union industry and the underlying solutions that drive payments.
    • Knowledge of publishing programs, content management systems, online help tools, web content, and curriculum design helpful.
    • Expert in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills, while also adaptable to a standard technical writing style.
    • Ability to concisely summarize and frame information that is consumable by non-technical staff.
    • Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail and consistency.
    • Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information, discern key information, and present in manner best understood by target audience.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and meeting assigned deadlines.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and work across all areas and all levels of CO-OP Financial Services.
    • Ability to adapt to unexpected project scope and/or deadline changes.
    • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and/or unstructured environment.
    • Desire to learn about new and emerging technologies.
    • Able to formulate questions to gain understanding.
