    We are seeking a talented Communications Manager to plan, write and edit internal and operational communication in support of CO-OP’s sales and service initiatives, business objectives, and key strategic programs.

    What You Can Look Forward to

    • Executes integrated internal and operational communications plans to share information with key internal and external stakeholders.
    • share key wins and company updates, build excitement and support the company culture.
    • Provide important operational updates to help clients run their businesses.
    • Collaborates across functions (Operations, Client Relations, Sales, Marketing, etc.) to curate story ideas, define operational changes, and determine content and channel details to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and clients.
    • Develops a deep understanding of CO-OP’s platforms, enabling informed perspectives with communications instruments.
    • Assists with researching, writing, editing, proofreading and designing content features.
    • Assists in the development of content for presentations.
    • Works closely with the VP, Operational Communications and VP, Corporate Communications to help promote cultural alignment and inclusion throughout CO-OP and within the Marketing team.
    • Supports the integration of social media into the internal and external communications agenda.
    • Ensures business initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
    • Plans, edits and writes content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, weekly newsletter, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin.
    • Ensures internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments and stakeholders.
    • Ensures internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
    • Responds to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
    • Helps execute the internal and external communication response to crisis situations which affect perception and reputation.
    • Advises senior executives of developments throughout CO-OP, either face-to-face or through regular written communication.
    • Participates in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 availability for managing risks to reputation and public confidence and respond to major and critical incidents.
    • Makes best use of appropriate technology, good communication practice and helps devise innovative, effective communication solutions to deliver targeted communications to meet operational priorities.
    • Provides effective and efficient written communications and information which positively and proactively promote CO-OP, build confidence and enhance safety and reassurance with internal stakeholders.
    • Provides specialist advice and support to the Marketing and PR teams.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
    • Five to seven years of progressive communications experience.
    • Exceptional communication, planning, project management, attention-to-detail and coordination skills.
    • Experience in communicating to large, dispersed audiences, as well as individual members.
    • Knowledge of communications delivery vehicles.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with employees at all levels of an organization.
    • Strong Office 365 skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams (as they roll out).
    • Must be fluent in AP Style and able to write clearly and succinctly with a high-level of accuracy, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to help source stories from employees; CO-OP’s goals and values and the ability to relay them to employees are critical components of effective communication.
    • Interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with communications, HR, and operational departments. Will also possess the confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communication techniques.
    • Creative ability to help devise effective communication strategies. A grasp of direct communication techniques and principles is also important for this position.
    • Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential. Understanding software technology, general finance, and credit union and banking industries goings-on, is crucial.
    • Well-versed in writing for and leveraging an array of communications channels, including employee intranet, emails, newsletters, and enterprise social networking solutions.
    • Ability to work in a fast-faced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Skilled at translating complex subjects into communications for broad audiences.
    • Willingness to occasionally travel (5% or less) and participate in industry events and professional conferences.
